NOVEMBER
Our Week
Dear Parents, Next week we will be conducting conferences. Please make sure that you are on time since we are only allowed 15 minutes per student. I will be explaining the report cards and we will review your son/daughters progress at that time. This week in religion we will read, Chapter 23, Thanksgiving Day. In this chapter we will identify Thanksgiving as a time to give thanks to God and discuss what we are thankful for. We will continue to work on our Good Deeds tress and add a bead for every good deed that we do in school. In Math we will compare objects by weight, name a shape piece using two attributes, identify a missing piece in a matrix, copy patterns, identify AB and ABB patterns and make shapes using a geoboard. In Reading we will work on the Superkid, Icky. Icky likes to watch TV. He also pretends to be on TV shows. The letter we will be working on is I. Some of the skills we will work on include: identifying the initial and medial /i/ sound, blending sounds to decode words, sequencing events, drawing conclusions from pictures and following oral directions. We also continue to practice blending every day.

Reminders
Please remember to return the red folder tomorrow and the white home/school envelope to school on Thursday. Thank you! Please remind your child that homework is due on Thursday each week. I have had many students returning their work on Friday. Starting with the second trimester (this week), if they do not bring in their homework by the due date they will move their magnet. Next Monday, November 19th, I will not be sending home the red folder or homework because of the holiday. There is no school from November 20th to November 25th. Parent Tip of the Week: To help your child with small motor skills at home, have them practice cutting out coupons from the Sunday paper or small ads from magazines. You can also give them a straw to cut or a piece of yarn. After they cut the straw, they can string it on the yarn.
