Courtney Roots Teaching Philosophy

I believe Students learn in school, at home, and in their community. Teachers, parents, and students are accountable for learning. People of all ages can learn from each other.

I believe No student is perfect. Students are people, with more going on in their lives than just school and studying.

I believe Curriculum and teaching methods should change as the world changes. Education should prepare children to be successful members of society, economy, and our world. There is not one method of teaching that is above all others; mix it up. Teachers should receive and embrace input from students.

I believe Each student deserves a quality education regardless of race, gender, religion, age, or socioeconomic status. Each students learning style should be taken into consideration when planning. Students should be respected and should learn to respect others.

Everybody is unique and should not be judged.

I believe All students should be provided with a physically and emotionally safe learning environment. An organized classroom fosters learning. A comfortable classroom helps students to explore and discover. Discipline actions should not be degrading to any student. Consistency is the key element in classroom management.

I believe The ability to reflect and make changes is important. Learning and implementing new ways of teaching should never stop.

I believe Being a good role model is absolutely a necessity. Participating with extra-curricular activities is a part of a teachers job. Outstanding teachers show students they care. Futures are brighter because of teachers.
