Various Ways to Promote Respect and Rapport

As a teacher, we are to demonstrate respect and rapport to our students. We want our students to be able to respect themselves as well as others. In order to do so, teachers need to have strategies to teach their students how to respect others and why it is important. Some examples: When asking students a question or to get something address the students by their first name and use please and thank-you Show interest in students hobbies Bring in photos of my family, hobbies, and interests to share with students. Have students bring their own to share with the class. Students can write what they like to do during each season of the year on decorate paper. It can be posted on the bulletin boards. Students can fill out a colored rectangle. They write their names, their favorite color, and a favorite hobby. After they finish, they will share with their teammates. They will each fold it into a ring linking theirs together. One student from each team will link their teams to another team. Once all teams are linked, this can be hung all around the room. I chose the All About Me activity to do for my project. When one student brought up the idea in class, I remembered doing something very similar to that during my school years. Therefore, I wanted to do something similar to her idea. I found boys and girls shapes to cut out. The students are to use color pencils and draw what are their favorite things they enjoy doing outside of school. They can draw all over the cut out shape. After they are finished, I will post them on the bulletin board in our classroom. I provided an example of what the bulletin board would look like using the All About Me activity.
