How are we going to build strategies to: 1) improve curriculum using technology? 2) keep current with our use of technology?

I wanted to discuss with you the following areas that I choose as important strategy building tools: o 1) ICTs o 2) BYOD o 3) collaborating o 4) copyright o 5) assisted technologies

ICTs and the Program of Studies is our framework. Pretty simple! BYOD: The way we embed technology into the classroom is changing. The concepts of IT classes are history. Technology is now embedded into the curriculum. The cost of supplying & maintaining devices is history too. I have posted a link for your reference. Wonderful 20 page document from Alberta Education discussing BYOD. I would suggest reading it. Is this affordable to expect every child to bring their own device? I think so. Tablets are $150 +. So are a pair of runners. Add it into the school supply list. If we now have each child bringing their own device, is this manageable for the teacher? When collaborating, how are you going to share information responsibility? How are you going to teach your students about sharing information? When you are standing at the photocopier are you following the copyright laws? I have posted three sites for your reference. Copyright is a broad topic, but lets discuss where we can find the laws. Three points to remember about copyright: o 1) from the date a creator dies, the person has 50 years to benefit from the copyright license until the creation becomes public domain. o 2) know how to follow the copyright rules and provide proper attribution. o 3) Ask if you are not sure. You can get into a lot of trouble as a teacher. If you have created something that you want to copyright, you can obtain a copyright license through Creative Commons. Assisted Technologies: the definition is any technology that aids a person to learn. (discuss each technology) (ask question)
