WHO WE ARE. Founded by veterans for veterans, MHVI is almost entirely a volunteer organization, relying on tax deductible contributions from the public. The Milwaukee Homeless Veterans Initiative is a tax exempt, non-profit, non-stock charitable organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and State of Wisconsin.

THE NEED IS GREAT. The streets of Milwaukee are home to 250 to 350 veterans on any given night. They need our help. And they deserve our help. WHAT WE DO. Since 2008, we have helped more than 700 veterans and their families. We fill the gaps that others dont, seeking out homeless veterans and working to win their trust. We help them get access to health care and VA benefits, find safe housing, and when they do get a place to live furnish rooms and apartments with donated furniture and household items. We serve a weekly hearty, free breakfast to

8,500 people a year, operate the only local food pantry for veterans, serving more than 200 people a week; and deliver food to those who are physically unable to come to the pantry. We clothe veterans, help them get medical attention, eyeglasses, and

HOW YOU CAN HELP. Please join us as an individual, group or corporate sponsor of our 2013 campaign kickoff reception on Jan. 23 at the Miller Inn. This is a way to offer immediate and effective help to veterans who need and deserve our support. Mayor Tom Barrett and County Executive Chris Abele are the honorary cochairs. We are seeking corporate sponsorships at $10,000, $5,000 $2,500 and $1,000 levels, and individual sponsors at $1,000, $500, $250 or $100.
