The Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) has been agreed by nearly every country in the world, apart from the United States of America and Somalia. Yet children are still being denied their rights. Why?

Case Study:
The Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) says that children have the right to freedom of expression to enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health to education to rest and leisure and to engage in play to be protected from economic exploitation and from performing any work that is likely to be hazardous or to interfere with the childs education, or to be harmful to the childs health.
