Summary: From completing this quiz, I realized how imperative it is that you reinforce with your students important musical terms. For example, if you want your students to know what an ostinato is, you need to teach a lesson on it. This isnt limited to simply writing down the term on the board. Instead, teach a lesson on it and then have them create their own ostinato patterns. Introduce the different types of ostinatos so that they will be confident and able to tell what the definition is. Listen to examples of an ostinato and compare them. Ask critical questions and make sure that each student is aware that it is a repetitive musical pattern. There are many different terms that I would want my students to know by the end of 8th grade, and it was difficult to choose which terms to quiz them on.
