Learning From Incidents Burst Electric Hot Water Bag Awareness Alert What happened

On 1st Nov 2012, the IP, 39 days old baby about to have shower/bath clothes were taken out
Electric hot water bag which being switch on for 2-3 minutes ( located about 30 cm away) suddenly burst Most gel inside the bag and hot water mixtures spilt onto the IP IP suffered major 2nd degree burn from chest upward including entire face Underwent plastic surgery and warded in ICU for 7 days and 4 days in Pediatrics ward.

Lesson Learned
Do not use item that do not have certification from safety body SIRIM etc
Avoid contact with hot and electric item most burn cases for infant/ children due to these reasons. Stick to traditional way to avoid colic/ stomach ache hot water in solid bag that refill-able / take Gripe water/ anti colic medicine.
