Taste! See! Touch! Hear!

The overwhelming Love of God unfolding,
Igniting within us a sacred romance;
A covenant of faith,
A river of compassion;
A promise of peace.

We know this unfolding love so well

In igniting the response of Mary,
The “yes” of a young woman,
Giving birth to the Savior of the world.

We know this unfolding love so well

In feeding the yearning of the blind and homeless one
Abandoned by family and friends,
who recognized the Light of the World
in a stranger on the side of the road;

We know this unfolding love so well

In the search for wholeness
Of a woman sitting near Jacob’s well
where she drank deep of God’s lavish grace

Arena
made flesh for her, for all.

We know this unfolding love so well

In opening the hearts of ordinary people
To recognize and celebrate God’s love
In surprising circumstances,
In unexpected places.

But this love is not just an ancient love.

With every breath we take,

God’s love unfolds around us and within us,
And with persistent patience and abiding hope,
Waits for our response
to God’s simple and stark invitation to “Come and see,”
Even when we have become tired of looking;
Even when our eyes are filled with tears;
Even when we are unsure of what we might see.

Still, God calls,

And each day extends the same invitation:
“Come and see.”
And God yearns for our “yes” –
to tasting and seeing and touching and hearing
the love of God poured out in every time and every place,
reminding us to live the promise,
to be faithful to the covenant
to ignite the “yes” of the world.

Verses 1, 2 The Lord is blessing me, blessing me right now.

The Lord is blessing me, making a way somehow.
I may not be able, be able to see
Just what the Lord is doing for me.
Over and over again He’s blessing me. (Refrain)
Verse 3 He’s in my walk, oh yes, the Lord is blessing me.
He’s in my talk, oh yes, the Lord is blessing me.
I looked at my hands and they looked new.
I looked at my feet and they did, too.
Over and over again He’s blessing me. (Refrain)

E Hô mai Joe Camacho
Refrain E Hô mai we call your spirit. E Hô mai we call in unity.
E Hô mai in faith, hope and love. E Hô mai you are the source and breath of life.
Verse 1 We gather here as family both friends and strangers too.
To hear God’s word, to share God’s breath, open our hearts to you.
Verse 2 You are the source that gives us life, you are the hope we seek.
And in our lives help us to be filled with compassion and love.
Verse 3 And by your love we are made whole, help us to share this call.
To be your sons and daughters now to build your kingdom here.
Verse 4 In times of tragedy and loss, when words just aren’t enough.
When questions leave us filled with rage, help us to find your grace.
Verse 5 As parents, mothers, fathers all, help us to be your light.
Give our eyes the sight to see your dwelling in each heart.
Verse 6 And as we go our separate ways, renew our hearts and minds.
Show us the path to follow you, be with us as we go.

COMMUNION SONGS

Arena
The Summons John Bell
Verse 1 Will you come and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where you don’t know and never be the same?
Will you let my love be shown, will you let my name be known,
Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?
Verse 2 Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the hostile stare should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me answer prayer in you and you in me?
Verse 3 Will you let the blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the pris’ners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the leper clean, and do such as this unseen,
And admit to what I mean in you and you in me?
Verse 4 Will you love the “you” you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the faith you’ve found to reshape the world around,
Through my sight and touch and sound in you and you in me?
Verse 5 Lord, your summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and follow you and never be the same.
In your company I’ll go where your love and footsteps show.
Thus I’ll move and live and grow in you and you in me.

1 In Christ alone will I glory though I could pride myself in battles won.
For I’ve been blest beyond measure and by His strength alone I’ve overcome.
Oh, I could stop and count successes like diamonds in my hand.
But those trophies could not equal to the grace by which I stand. (Refrain)

2 In Christ alone will I glory for only by His grace I am redeemed.

Only his tender mercy could reach beyond my weakness to my needs.

The Religious Education Endowment Fund was established by the Office of Religious Education to support the on-
going training and formation of religious education leaders, particularly by making scholarships available for the
ongoing education and formation of Directors of Religious Education, Adult Educators, Young Adults and Youth
Ministers to pursue graduate studies. It is our hope that every Director of Religious Education and Director of Youth
Ministry will be given the opportunity to receive a master’s degree in Religious Education/Religious Studies.
Those who registered online could contribute to this Fund, as well as those who made an additional contribution
through mail-in registrations. As of January 28, 497 people responded with contributions totaling $6,755. We sin-
cerely appreciate and acknowledge their contributions. The Fund is currently enabling 10 students to pursue a master’s
degree in Religious Education, and you will be happy to know that several have already graduated!
