News Release For immediate release: January 26, 2013 Missing Person/ Silver Alert

Independence Police are looking for Ms. Joanne C. Eakin, 78 years old, 5 8 tall, 108 lbs, dark brown (dyed) hair, and brown eyes. On todays date, January 26, 2013, Ms. Eakin left her Independence home at approximately 9:30 a.m. and was last seen leaving Harrahs Casino at 1:30 p.m. Family members said she was expected to arrive at a residence in the 9500 block of W. 148th Terrace in Overland Park, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. It is believed Ms. Eakin exited the casino alone and was driving her black, 1996 Mercury Marquis four door with a cloth top vehicle bearing Missouri license plates CD3-SOR.

Ms. Eakin was last seen wearing a pink scarf, black coat, white or light gray shirt, blue jeans, and carrying a black purse. Family members said she has gotten lost on two occasions because she got off of the interstate and became confused, and she cannot drive after dark because she does not see well at night.
