ETHICS IN PSYCHOLOGICAL PROFESSION

ABSTRACT

Ethics is the branch of philosophy. It deals with moral judgments. Ethics provide guidance for making moral decisions. Professions generate ethics code to guide their members in making decisions on ethical matter and so that they have basis to judge the appropriateness of their members actions. The development of a set of professional ethics is an important milestone in the development of psychological profession. The ethical principal of psychologists and code of conduct, referred to as the ethics code, and consists of four parts: Introduction, Preamble, General Principles and Ethical Standards. Having a professional code of ethics does not assure that psychologists behavior will always adhere to the ethical standards. Ethical dilemmas may be an unavoidable part of the professional life of a psychologist. Psychologists must first recognize an ethical problem, identify some relevant standards to help guide their actions and know what resources to turn to for help. All above issues will be explained in this article.
