Mohammad Mortada TAs' Office hours: Saturday & Wednesday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm Location: Building 19, the 2nd Floor Course Outline: - Introduction - Solar Energy: - Earth-Sun Geometry and Angles - Solar Radiation on Surfaces - Utilization of Solar Energy - Solar Measuring Instruments - Wind Energy: - Introduction to Wind Energy - Terrain Effect on Airflow - Sitting on Non-flat Terrain - Wind Characteristics - Wind Machines Course Objectives: This course provides the student with the basic information about the new clean sources of energy, methods, and instrumentation employed to make use of this energy. The student should be able to calculate the available portion of energy that could be converted to another useful form. The student should be familiar with the mathematical relations that govern the concerned instrumentation design.
