ICT is a term that encompasses all technological tools used to manipulate and communicate information, such as recording media (e.g., CDs/DVDs), broadcasting systems (e.g., radio, television), computing hardware and software (e.g., World Wide Web, email), and mobile networks and devices (e.g., cell phones, smart phones). Increasingly people, money, and information cross borders to the extent that where information originates or resides is unclear. These developments, in turn, affect national education systems.

New millennium learners is a term widely used to designate those generations born from the 1980s onwards and who have been raised in a context where digital technologies form an inextricable part of daily life (...), in the broadest sense (they) are mediated by these technologies(Pedr, 2006, p. 2). This new generation is familiarised with media-based languages and feels comfortable performing several tasks at once. Its members are used to immediacy and have an ability to learn by rapidly processing parallel and discontinuous information. The attribute digital generation s have to do with cognitive and social aspects. Prensky points out that todays students think and process information fundamentally differently from their predecessors. According to Prensky, digital Natives are used to receiving information really fast. They like to parallel process and multi-task
