Amadeus Mozart (17561791), he moved to Salzburg after completing his studies where he was appointed assistant to the Cathedral

Kapellmeister Franz Xaver Richter . He became a French citizen there and was named the successor to Richter as Kapellmeister . Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote to his father about Ignaz Pleyels string quartets in a letter dated 24 April 1784: They are well written and very agreeable; and you will instantly recognize his teacher [Haydn] in them. Good, very good for music if Pleyel will be able to replace Haydn in his time! He fled to London (where his former teacher Haydn had also been active) before the revolution . In 1795 he moved to Paris, founding the Pleyel Piano Factory and the Chez Pleyel publishing house (both still in existence) in the Rue Neuve of the Petits-Champs in 1797 . He published compositions by his teacher Haydn (e .g ., an edition with 80 of his string quartets in 1801) as well as works by Beethoven, Mozart, Hummel, Onslow and Boccherini . Pleyels works were frequently performed throughout Europe around 1800 . He died in Paris in 1831; his grave can be found at the famous Pre Lachaise cemetery Ignaz Pleyels Arrangements of Mozarts Works In 1985 I received a bound edition of works by Ignaz Pleyel for flute, violin, viola and cello from my teacher Conrad Klemm (19252010) . He had found this edition in a used bookstore in Southern Italy in the 1950s . The compositions are all arrangements of works by W .A Mozart (K . 497, 498, 548) and Joseph Haydn (3 string quartets) . In addition to his own numerous compositions, Ignaz Pleyel also made arrangements of works by other composers . Printed by Richomme (Grave
