History
Fruit of the 1999 merger between two of France's most influential banking groups, BNP and Paribas. It is France's largest bank and among the top five European banks. Led by Chairman Michel Pebereau and CEO Mr. Jean Laurent Bonnafe. Indian CEO- Mr. Samir Bimal. Revenue- $47.86 billion. 2200 branches worldwide. Trades internationally in more than 85 countries.

Business Lines
Corporate Banking Investment Banking, Private banking Asset management. Consumer Banking Mortgage Loans Provides integrated banking solutions based on a dynamic cross-selling approach, with a network of 150 business centres in 23 European countries.

BNP Paribas's four main markets are: France Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg It also has significant retail operations in the United States, Poland, Turkey, Ukraine, and North Africa, as well as largescale investment banking operations in New York, London, Hong Kong, and Singapore.

BNP Paribas in India


First banks to start a dialogue with India in 1860 beginning operations in Calcutta. In those days, the Bank was known as the Comptoir National d'Escompte de Paris (CNEP). Since then they have spread their branches to eight key metros & mini metros Today, BNP Paribas is the second oldest foreign bank on the Indian soil and is positioned amongst the leading corporate banks in india

Present Scenario
In 2013 BNP Paribas was awarded the Bank of the Year award by The International Financing Review. BNP Paribas CIB renews its partnership with the Institut Pasteur. BNP Paribas Wealth Management Wins Best Private Bank Alternative Investments and Best Private Bank - Taiwan by Asian Private Banker. BNP Paribas Cardif in Italy rewarded for its CSR practices.

International Operations

France: BNP Paribas runs one of France's largest retail banking networks with 2,200 branches and over 3,200 ATMS In Paris alone the bank has 187 agencies. BNP Paribas serves over 6 million French households and 60,000 corporate customers. Italy: In 2006 BNP Paribas purchased Banca Banca Nazionale del Lavoro (BNL), Italy's sixth largest bank at the time. In 2009 BNL had 810 branches in Italy, 2.5 million individual clients, and over 150,000 corporate clients. Belgium: BNP Paribas acquired BNP Paribas Fortis when it acquired the retail banking assets of the Belgian lender Fortis in 2009.
