"Steps for Success" 1. Read and highlight the

title. Doing so will help you connect your prior knowledge.

2. Make a prediction.
Remember, the two parts: what and why!

3. Number the paragraphs. 4. Read the questions and

highlight VIPs'. Look for questions that refer to specific paragraphs and label "Reread" above those questions. For example, "In

paragraph four..."

5. Read the story. Work

your way slowly through the passage and highlight only the information that helps answer questions.

6. Reread the questions.

Narrow down your answer choices. Refer back to the story and reread if needed. Choose the best answer!!

7. Prove your answers are

correct by labeling where you found your evidence. For example, : "Paragraph 4, sentence 2-3."

8. Double check your

answers!!
