Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians Environmental Policy Statement

Looking forward Seven Generations, the Bad River Band of the Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians is committed to ensuring a clean and healthy environment within the Reservation.

We will: Comply with all applicable laws and regulations and other requirements to which we subscribe. We are committed to continual improvement of our Environmental Management System and the prevention of pollution. Reduce consumption of natural resources and material goods. Reuse and recycle natural resources and material goods whenever possible. Manage land, water, air, timber, and other resources in a responsible manner. Strive to manage natural resources so that proper natural resource functions are maintained and no longer threatened by negative human impacts. Strive to achieve a community in which all individuals and institutions value the gifts of Mother Nature and willingly choose to act in a manner which ensures achievement of sustainable environmental and economic goals. Develop a community in which every Bad River member, young and old, shares in the benefits of a healthy environment. Make the protection of the Bad River Reservation environment, its natural resource base, and the functions of the natural systems on which all life depends a priority in planning.
