Coal is a non-renewable energy source.
It comes from the
ground beneath us.
Advantages
• There are very large amounts
of electricity can be
generated one place using
coal
• It is very cheap
• A fossil fuel station can be
built anywhere
1. The coal gets heated by the heat exchanger.
2. Then steam tuns turbine.
3. Turbine turns generator.
4. Geneator makes electricity.
Disadvantages
• Fossil Fuel is pollution. It can cause
green house effects and also
warming the earth.
• It is non-renewable.
• Burning coal produces more carbon
dioxide than oil or gas.
• Mining coal can be dangerous and
difficult.
• Coal mining destroys large areas of
landscape.
• Coal power stations need huge
amounts of fuel, which means train-
loads of coal almost constantly.
