Position Type: Contract Employment Job Title: Production Assistant Job Location: Winnipeg Job Description: Were looking for an organized and energetic person who is cool under pressure. The Production Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Winnipeg Folk Festival production team during the planning, set up, operation, and teardown of the festival and its two campgrounds. Term: April 1, 2013 August 16, 2013 Duties: Assist in ensuring volunteer crew coordinators get the supplies and equipment they require Get supply quotes and purchase supplies Coordinate ordering of signage materials Prepare information sheets, training manuals, and other documents for distribution to volunteer crew coordinators and campers Work with food vendors, campground animators and volunteer crews to facilitate set up, operation, and clean up of these areas. Assist with sustainability initiatives including composting & recycling programs and Bike Ride to the Festival Support other projects and events as required Support the Winnipeg Folk Festival with other duties as assigned Job Requirements: Skills Required: Production experience for other festivals, films, cultural organizations, or major public events Organizational skills, attention to detail Creative and resourceful problem solver Strong communication skills Ability to prioritize tasks, and coordinate multiple deadlines Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Positive attitude and the ability to stay calm under pressure Experience attending the Winnipeg Folk Festival desirable Physically fit and able to lift 40 lbs. Work Schedule: The hours of work are generally 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, a 35-hour week with a onehour unpaid lunch. During the Festival, longer hours will be required. Vehicle Requirements: It is desirable to have access to a personal vehicle and a valid drivers license.
