Community Based Health & First Aid GUIDING PRINCIPLES

1. Community Based Volunteers


Target CHVs from their own barangays. BHW vs CHVs?

2. Community Participation
Activities planned requires community participation.

3. Linkage with Health Facility


CHVs can be a direct link of Red Cross with the barangay health facilities. Activities should be lined up with the BHUs activities.

4. Positioned to Respond During Emergencies


During a disaster / emergency, the regular program of CBHFA stops ang gives priority to the emergency. Same trained CHVs will be mobilized.

5. Partnerships
Activities can be supported by partners. Monetary support? Man-power support?

CBHFA is an integrated community-based approach in which Red Cross volunteers work with their communities on disease prevention, health promotion, and first aid.

CBHFA brings together health promotion, injury prevention and response into a comprehensive community-based programme that develops the capacity of volunteers and communities.

CBHFA emphasizes the roles and actions of volunteers and their branches in communities.

CBHFA can be tailored to meet the needs of any community or target group.
