A researcher was interested in the relationship between the number of years a couple was married before they decided to separate, the number of children the couple had negotiated for when divorcing, and their feelings of depression at the time of separation. A bivariate correlation was conducted on the relationships. Results indicated that those with a number of years a couple were married before separating (M=9.48, SD=7.08) had a significantly higher number of children the couple had negotiated for when divorcing (M=1.35, SD=1.15; r= .1, p<.05). The number of years a couple were married before separating had a significantly higher number of feelings of depression at the time of separation (M=3.97, SD=1.80; r=-.1, p<.05).
