INDEX

Each computer has a network card installed with appropriate network software, and is linked to another computer using a network cable. Cable can be twisted-pair, coaxial, or optical fibre.

Wireless (Microwave, Infra-red, Radio)

Data is transmitted using radio, infra-red or microwaves. A wireless hub receives and transmits data to each computer. Each computer needs a special wireless network card. No cabling involved.

Satellite

There are now hundreds of satellites orbiting the Earth which can be used to 'bounce' signals off.

Data Transmission speeds may vary. If the speed is slow... a user will find it takes a long time for a response from a computer
