Ian Lowry 2-1-2013 6/7 Compare and contrast Tut

King Tutankhamen 90 years back, an archaeologist named Howard Carter discovered the boy king by the name of Tutankhamen. King Tut was discovered in the Valley of Kings in his tomb. His tomb was very messy and not organized. When they found him, it took 3 years to find his body hid in the last of his 10 sarcophagi. But they found that he had a short reign of power, and life for that matter, as he died at the age of 19. Historians have been trying to find the cause of death, but it has proved elusive. The three leading theories are death by malaria, gangrene, and assassination. But alas, the search for the truth of King Tutankhamens death is an ongoing investigation. How did this great king decease?

Scientist have discovered that there is a severely broken bone on the leg of King Tut. But some people might say how could a broken leg kill someone? Zahi Hawass states "A sudden leg fracture, possibly introduced by a fall, might have resulted in a life threatening condition when a malaria infection occurred," and 3,000 years ago they didnt have any antibiotics, and without them he could have gotten a severe infection such as gangrene, and that can lead to the loss of your leg or death. He also had malaria, and that could have easily been the reason of his mysterious death. Tuts tomb had many chariots, suggesting he could have fallen off the chariot and caused the break in his leg. If he had the malaria while he broke the leg it would cause the body to heal the break much slower than it would without. With that said, these reasons may or may not be the cause of the boy kings death. Many scientist believe that tut was hit on the back of his head with a blunt object that could be the cause of the blood clot on the back of head. "He was not a very strong pharaoh. He was not rid ing the chariots," said study team member Carsten Pusch, a

geneticist at Germany's University of Tbingen. "Picture instead a frail, weak boy who had a bit of a club foot and who needed a cane to walk." This shows that it would have been hard to break your leg on a chariot if you did not ride them in the first place. Tut was the son of Akhenaten who was the king that changed the religion to monotheism (believing one god). He made them worship the god the Aten and he also moved the capital the people dint like this and there were several assassination attempts on him so tut has many enemies from the day he was born. This could have led to death of the boy king. A broken leg, malaria they are all good theories but the evidence is now obvious that the boy king was murdered. After scientist took some closer examinations of the two theories new evidence shows that king Tutankhamen died of assentation (murder). Aye the man that was most likely to have killed tut. Aye was the one who over watched Tuts burial took tut s heart out of his chest so that he would not have a after life.

The final analysis has shown that the reason of the short-lived life of king tut was murder. With the medical technology that the world has today we can now confirm that the natural causes theory is no match to murder. With the last little bit of evidence that scientist and historians have gathered they can all agree that Tuts life was cut short a blunt object hitting him fatally in the back of the head -murder. This would have been the cause of the blood clot on the back of the boy pharaohs head. With the discovery of Tuts body brought us not just the boy kings mummy but a much greater view on how tut reigned as king of Egypt for a short 10 years.
