Reading & English/Language Arts

Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach. Draw evidence from literary or informational texts to support analysis, reflection, and research. Integrate and evaluate information presented in diverse media and formats, including visually, quantitatively, and orally.

Math
Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them. Rely on using concrete objects or pictures to help conceptualize and solve a problem. They analyze givens, constraints, relationships, and goals.

Science
Asking questions and seeking answers are at the heart of scientific inquiry. Following the steps of scientific inquiry, students learn how to gather evidence, review and understand their findings, and compare their solutions with those of others. Scientists must carefully describe their methods and results to a variety of audiences, including other scientists. The practical application of science requires both individual and group efforts. Individuals bring unique insight and focus to the work of inquiry and problem solving.

Social Studies
To gather a range of opinions and determine the best course of action, students must interpret information. Technology today provides a channel through which students can gather knowledge of the past, search information about today and make hypotheses regarding the future Social science is about people's interactions. Study in this field encourages students to listen carefully to the views of all members of a group and to represent their own points of view appropriately and effectively.

Fine Arts
Problem solving is integral to the artsproviding students the opportunity to innovate and seek original solutions to open-ended problems. The arts are forms of communication extending beyond reading, writing, listening and speaking. Through the arts, students observe how dance, drama, music and visual art reflect history, society and everyday life.
