efforts to bring Nobel Laureate Mario Vargas Llosa to the campus this fall for the Transnational Encounters series. Transnational Encounters is supported by multiple departments throughout the university but specifically the College of Arts & Sciences Interdisciplinary Humanities Research Center. Transnational Encounters includes a series of six speakers, invited to campus over a period of four semesters. This semester marks the third in the progression. Spanish instructors were urged to encourage their students to attend the events as well as to prepare their students to experience the presentation by this specific renowned author. The schedule of events can be found at the bottom of this document. Prof. Schmidt-Cruz went to Clayton Hall to discuss arrangements for the public lecture with event coordinators. The auditorium seats 550 and 125 Clayton will be utilized for overflow (130 seats), while the event is screened by projector on a closed circuit. Therefore, there will be a total of 680 seats. There is free event parking in the lot adjacent to Clayton Hall with over 400 spaces, although some may be utilized for other events or overflow Marriott parking. Trabant Theater, where ngel Estebans presentation on Vargas Llosa and the readings will take place, seats 288.
