WHAT IS NEWS?

Definition; Newly received or noteworthy information, esp. about recent or important events.
News can be reported through; TV, Radio, Internet, Newspaper and Social media. The purpose of news is to update the population globally/nationally on the raising issues in the world/region. For anything to be on the news, it has to be newsworthy meaning it has to be relevant to the general population, if it is extraordinary new development in an on-going issue such court cases etc.

TYPES OF NEWS

Regional News Consist of news that relate to the region. More emphasis on community. Specific news and relevant to location. Usually the news affects the those on that region. For example. OCR radio, itv Granada specific to the northwest region. The news presenters have local accents, the presentation usually informal. To ensure that it is local news and this is happening in the community.

National NewsNews that is generalised over the country/nation concerning on UK based events. For example the next election is covered as national news. BBC is a example of that type of news coverage, in addition the presentation of the news is very formal. Intentional News International news is news that is from around the world. This allows people from the different nations to keep up with what's happening in the world.
