The table displays the use of many kinds of transports in Shanghai in 1996.

It also reveals the expected/ projected changes in using modes of transport in 2020. It can be clearly seen that in 1996 bus is was the most popular transport, accounting for 39% of passenger kilometers, followed by bicycle with 27%. In contrast, Walking accounted for the minority smallest percentage of passenger kilometers, representing only 7%. The two types of transports, scooter and car, were much smaller, 15% for scooter the former and only 12% for carthe latter. In stark contrast with 1996, it is predicted that in 2020 the use of car will be the most popular transport in Shanghai, accounting for the highest percentage (52%). Moreover, train will reach the peak, making up 13%, whereas the use of bicycle reach nadir, dropping to 3%. The use of other transports, scooter and bus will also decrease
