ISSUES ON PIPELINE 2 I read your mails about this issue and someone pointed out a mistake that was made in the solution sent to you but this was not made in the tutorial. The mistake was made under BS 0.3. It has been corrected in the table below.
Parameters Design Factor t (mm) t nom (mm) D/t t from table Length (m) weight (tonnes) Total cost () BS ASME ISO

0.72 3.01 3.44 N (94) 5.6, 6.35 2500 110, 125.25 71500, 81413

0.3 7.23 8.26 Y (39) 8.4 1500 95.25 61913

0.72 3.01 3.01 N (108) 5.6, 6.35 2500 110, 125.25 71500, 81413

0.6 3.61 3.61 N (90) 5.6, 6.35 1500 66, 75.15 42900, 48848

0.77 2.78 2.92 N (111) 5.6, 6.35 2500 110, 125.25 71500, 81413

0.67 3.19 3.36 N (94) 5.6, 6.35 1500 66, 75.15 42900 ,48848

*values corresponding to 6.35 (6.4) are printed in red Another area pointed out was why 6.35 mm was used in the calculation. 6.35 mm was given as additional information in the solution provided in the class. Since 5.6 mm which is very close to 5.4 mm may not be available, then an option of 6.35 mm was provided. Using the table with us, we cannot find the 6.35 mm but 6.4 mm could be found on the table. Using 6.4 mm would give 81,413 which is very close to the one obtained by Mr Kadir in class. He got 81,428. I would try and see him on it. If I am not able to see him, we have two options: either to take note of his value and give it to him in the exams or calculate our own value and use. Since the difference is not that much, calculating would be advisable. This is my candid opinion. I would keep you in the loop, if there is any further development. N B: Pipelines 1 and 2 are very important for the exam Wishing you all the best
