1. Curriculum Standards Addressed: PKRL 9- Actively engage in group reading activities with purpose and understanding; participate in the recitation of books, poems, chants, songs and nursery rhymes. 2. Cross Curricular Connections: None 3. Instructional Objective(s) Criteria: When given movements to go along with the nursery rhyme The Wheels on the Bus, students should be able to successfully be able to retell and reenact main events of that story; PKRL9

Assessment(s) of the Objectives: *Pre- read the text and ask students to recall main events *During- take note of who is doing the correct movements and saying the correct actions * Post- ask students to recall specific events with the gesture then one by one on an activity sheet 5. Materials/Resources: Markers, giant paper, highlighter, smartboard, The Wheels on the Bus song, youtube video, activity sheet 6. Prerequisites (Prior Knowledge): Must understand what key details in a story are 7. Procedures: 1) Read out the written text of The Wheels on the Bus 2) Ask students to retell key details in the nursery rhyme 3) Show them and allow them to circle/highlight the event 4) Take note of each childs answer (Pretest) 5) Introduce the song 6) Teach the movements while reciting the song

7) Place the children in a spacey circle 8) Play the song and allow them to do the dance 9) Take note of whether they are correctly saying the actions and doing the gestures 10) While children are in centers, pull individuals aside to ask them to recall specific events, even if they have to use gestures (Posttest)

8. Accommodations: *Anyone with hearing impairments will stand near the smartboard (volume will be adjusted accordingly) *Those with vision impairments will be brought to the front during the reading and the learning of the gestures * The circle will be spacey and set up in boy, girl formation to keep trouble from happening 9.
