SPANISH III INTERVIEW ACTIVITY DAY ONE: Students get into small groups and think of 10-15 questions

that they could ask someone in an interview. Questions should be more than just yes or no questions. Once students have formulated the questions, we put them on the board and go over which questions are correct and which need some work. We also discuss the overall quality of questions and decide which might be most helpful in the project. The teacher will pick 10 questions that every student has to ask and each student then picks 5 questions they would like to do. DAY TWO: Before starting the interview process, teacher will model what the final product should be like by presenting a celebrity to the students. Then students will use their questions to interview someone in the class. The expectation is that Spanish is being spoken on both sides the entire time. They are allowed to interview for 15-20 minutes and then new groups are formed so everyone asks questions one time and everyone answers one time. Students record the answers they get today. Students will receive 5 points for speaking in Spanish the entire time. Student will lose a point every time the teacher hears them speak English DAYS 3-5: Students begin writing an essay/article about the person they interviewed. They are expected to use information they already know and the new information to write about these students. Students then have one session of revision with a peer and another session with the teacher. We discuss content and grammar. Ultimately students write a composition that is revised by several people in Spanish. In Spanish III, all levels of this assignment are completed in Spanish, with students and with the teacher. Once students have completed the writing portion of this assignment, students will present the person they interviewed to the class. This presentation will be 1 minute long.
