Customer database is maintained through the use of loyalty cards, the cards too are segmented on the basis of the type of customer. These cards help in maintaining relationship with the customers, by regular update of offers through mails and sms. Plus special discounts, prizes and credit can also be given through these cards.

Customer Relationship Practices at Big Bazaar


According to the information given to us by a Department in-charge in Big Bazaar, the store classifies its customers into four specific categories. The main differentiating category is based upon Customer Need and Customer Value to the company

Platinum Customers : These are high value customers, whose ticket size is high and purchase frequency is also high, the visit the store almost every week and purchase high value branded articles. Gold Customer : These customers are those whose purchase value is high but frequency of visit is twice or thrice a month. The purchase mostly monthly rations and visit and purchase during the festive season. Iron and LeadCustomer: These customers are new to the store and they purchase in low amounts and visit only for pleasure, their potential is low, yet they do have impulse purchase potential.
