Term 1 Visual Arts Evaluations Spelling Week 4-5 The programs focus this week was decorating a family

photo frame, which was not carried out. This activity was altered to Aboriginal Perspectives. Students discussed the way Aborigines communicate through art and completed a dot painting using cultural colours. Students manipulated their paint brush to carefully continue a dot pattern (using the end of the paint brush). Students were very excited to share their work samples and Students in 2A had previously drawn and represented their families on art paper. This weeks activity was now focused on representing the main characters in our focus book, James and the Giant Peach. Students enjoyed representing particular characters and adding quotes from the book. 2A used pencils or crayons to represent the characters. Students were very engaged in their artwork and were able to add finer details, such as the scenery. Students have been learning about Aboriginal Perspectives. 2A discussed the tool boomerang and constructed and decorated them own using oil pastels. Students discussed Aboriginal patterns and colours, and implemented this into their work. This activity was followed up and students used water paint to give a better effect. A few students required assistance, as they were mixing colours and using too much water. Overall, this was a fantastic activity for all students. 2A was amazed to see their final products displayed in the room. During week 8, students participated in craft activities relating to Easter. Students were very eager to decorate their Easter baskets using oil pastels, coloured pencils and textas. Most students required assistance when stapling their cardboard and measuring the sizes of their heads. Students enjoyed using these props and parading around the room. In preparation for the Easter hat parade this week, students

Students were also encouraged to add other craft materials to their hats to make a 3D effect. Due to several interruptions this week, students did not participate in visual art this week. On the last day of term, students participated in a craft activity relating to ANZAC Day. Students used craft materials and coloured pencils to decorate their poster.
