Call for Reseach Proposals

The Institute of Cultural Studies is inviting faculty, academic workers and independent scholars to submit research proposals which touch on the following areas: Research Priority Areas: Social History Researches in social history, either empirical or theoretical or of multidisciplinal in nature, which focus on everyday or ordinary life that is rarely broached by historical, political and economic studies. Researches that deal with or touch on oral history and ethnography may also be accepted. Creative Writing Creative works such as poems, short stories, plays, novels, essays, biographies, visual arts and studies in creative works such as literary criticism, the performing arts, film and film criticism and researches in upgrading of skills and conceptual tools in creative writing. Humanities and Philosophy Researches in aesthetics and the areas of the humanities such as painting, sculpture, music, dance, architecture, folk arts and indigenous craft-making and researches related to art such as art history, tangible and intangible heritage, and cultural preservation. Researches in philosophy which may be of theoretical, applied and/or of multidisciplinal in character and deal with any problem in any of the areas of philosophy such as epistemology, ethics, philosophy of science and technology, political philosophy, history of ideas. Studies that delve on issues of historic significance examined through a philosophical lens may also be accepted. Proposals may also cover all topics provided a framework for synthesizing them should be clear and well stated. Proposals should be addressed to the Director of the Institute of Cultural Studies ( Prof. Virgilio A. Rivas) and should contain the following:
