MATERIALS 500 (550) gms MADIL YARN Eden cornflower blue no. 629; knitting needles size 5 US/4 mm; tapestry needle. STITCHES USED stockinette stitch (stock st) diamond pattern (multiple of 8 sts + 11) foll chart to dec 1 st: at the beg of RS rows SKP, at the end of RS rows: k 2 tog; at the beg of WS rows p 2 tog, at the end of WS rows p 2 tog through back loop (tbl). GAUGE 18 sts and 26 rows = 10 cm square over diamond pattern. WORKING INSTRUCTIONS Back: cast on 75 (79) sts and work in diamond patt (for size 12/14 add 2 stock sts each side). At 32 (34) cm from beg, 84 (90) rows, to shape armholes bind off each side, every other row, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st 3 times. At 18 (19) cm from beg of armholes 48 (50) rows, bind off rem 59 (63) sts working center 31 (35) sts purlwise. Front: as back till work meas 43 (46) cm from beg,112 (120) rows. To shape neckline bind off center 13 sts purlwise, and cont each part separately. Again for neckline bind off, within 1 st from neck edge, every row 1 st 5 times, every other row 1 st twice, every 4 rows 1 st twice. At 7 cm from beg of neckline (20 rows) bind off rem 14 (16) shoulder sts. Sleeves: cast on 35 (37) sts and work in diamond patt (for size 12/14 add 2 stock sts each side). At 15 cm from beg (36 rows) inc each side every 10 rows 1 st 8 times. At 43 (45) cm from beg, 112 (118) rows, to shape cap bind off each side, every other row, 3 sts once, 2 sts once, 1 st 6 times then every 4 rows 1 st 5 times. At 14 cm from beg of cap, 36 (40) rows, bind off rem 19 sts. FINISHING Join side and shoulder seams. Sew and mount sleeves.
