You should have 2 sts left for all sizes.
Row 11 (13) 15 (17) 19: Ch 1, turn. Dec. To finish off the square, *ch 2, rotate the piece 90˚
and work 11 (13) 15 (17) 19 sc along the edge* a total of 3 times along each of the two sides
and the bottom. Ss into the first stitch of Round 11 (13) 15 (17) 19 and fasten off.
ASSEMBLY
To join granny squares, line up edges with wrong sides facing out. Attach yarn to corner ch.
Ch 1, Sc in flo of front piece and blo of back piece across. Make sure to work in one of the
chs from each corner. (11 (13) 15 (17) 19 sts)
Granny squares should be attached in the following format as one flat panel:
RIBBING
Wrist Cuffs
Make sure that the right side of the piece is facing out.
Join yarn to any part of the wrist.
Ch 1, sc3tog in blo in each st and ch around (as well as in the side spaces created by the
joined granny squares). Ss to first st of row.
The next part of the ribbing is worked in vertical rows.
Row 1: Ch 11, turn. Beginning in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc in each ch. Ss to the st at the
base of the chs, ss in next st. (10 sts)
*Round 2: Turn, skip over the 2 ss, and hdc in the third loop only across. (10 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in the third loop only across. Ss in next 2 sts. (10 sts)*
Repeat rounds 2-3 until ribbing goes all the way around the wrist.
To finish off, ch 1, turn. Hdc together the third loop of the last row and the back bumps of
the chs in the first vertical row. Bind off.
Repeat this section on the other side.
Sides
With the right side of the piece facing out, join yarn to the corner of the bottom left granny
square at the front of the cardigan. Ch 1. Working up the side, around the neck, and down
the other side, (sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts) in the BLO of each st and ch (as well as the side of
the spaces created by the joined granny squares) until you reach the corner of the bottom
right granny square at the front.
Bottom
With the right side of the sweater facing out, join your yarn to the corner of the bottom right
part of the ribbing you just made (at the front of the cardigan). Ch 1. Working along the edge
of the ribbing and the bottom edge along the back of the cardigan, (sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts)
in the BLO of each st and ch (as well as the side of the spaces created by the joined granny
squares) until you reach the corner of the bottom right granny square at the front (make
sure to work along the edge of the ribbing as well).
The next part of the ribbing is worked in vertical rows.
Round 1: Ch 6, turn. Beginning in the 2nd ch from your hook, hdc in each ch. Ss to the st at
the base of the chs, then ss in the next st. (5 sts)
*Round 2: Turn, skip over the two ss, hdc in the third loop only across. (5 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in the third loop only across. Ss in next 2 sts. (5 sts)*
Repeat rounds 2-3 until you reach the corner of the bottom left corner of the top ribbing,
where you started your work. Bind off. Weave in all of the ends.
