Heart fish

By Teresa Alvarez (February 2013)

About copyright: Its really something great when people like what I have designed. You can sell the final item or whatever you like, but it would be nice to reference where you found the pattern!

If there is anything you do not understand or there are any mistakes, please, send me a message! As you can see in the way I write, English is not my first language. So, you could come across some mistakes and grammatical inconsistencies. Sorry and my apologies! This file describes how to crochet a fish, I had the idea of shaping the fins and the tail as hearts. Ive put some pipe cleaners to keep the tail up. If you intend to use the toy with a child, its better to skip this. ABOUT YARN: I have used 1.5 skeins of Creative Cotton aran from Rico (50gr=85 meters Color: pink.

ABOUT GAUGE: It is not important, as far as you are consistent with your tension. ABOUT HOOK: 3.5 mm hook Remember that when making amigurumis, stitches should be tight. YOU WILL NEED: Yarn for the fish. Two safety eyes. Stuffing. Tapestry needle.

ABOUT CROCHET TERMS: Ive followed the US terminology. Stitch: st Chain: ch Slip stitch: sl st Single crochet: sc Sc2tog: decreasing two sc (i.e., 2 st become 1) NOTE: Ive made all the decreases as invisible decreases

PATTERN:
All the pattern is worked in spirals, so do not join at the end/beginning of a row. The toy is worked almost in one piece. I reckon it is not very comfortable to crochet because of the size!

Fins (make 2) The fins have two humps, that when joined form a heart. The fins are stuffed lightly, but if a flatter effect is preferred, just leave them without stuffing! 1st Hump: Round 1: magic ring, 6 sc (alternatively, 2 ch and 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook). Round 2: 2sc in next 6 st, (12 sts) Round 3: [2sc in next st, 1sc in next st] repeat 6 times (18 sts) Round 4-6: sc in each st across (18 sts) Fasten off. 2nd hump: repeat rounds 1-6 of 1st hump and do not fasten off Round 7: we join both humps, so sc in each st across 2nd hump and then sc in each st across 1st hump (36st) Round 8: [sc2tog, sc in next 4st] repeat 6 times (30st) Round 9: decrease 4 st in the round evenly spaced (26st):

Round 10: decrease 4 st in the round evenly spaced (22st) Round 11: decrease 4 st in the round evenly spaced (18st) Round 12: [sc2tog, sc in next st] repeat 6 times (12 st) Round 13, sc2tog, repeat 6 times (6st)
