AMERICAN CORNER IN UNTAN

Based on the results of our interview with one of the assistants in UNTANs american corner, Dian Ratna Sari, at November 19th, 2012 in UNTANs American Corner, we get some information. American corner is cooperation between the governments of Indonesia and the United States in education. American corner at tanjung pura university established on february 16th, 2012 by U.S. ambassador to Indonesia. Director of the american corner is madam Stella Pranciska S.Pd, M.Pd. American corner has some purpose such as, for introducing americans to the citizens of indonesia, to provide access for people who want to learn English, learn about American, and to get a scholarship to continue study to america and as a source of information about new things made in the U.S. the point of view about american corner is a central access we get to know Americans, from the language to the cultures. Program at UNTANs American Corner divided into 2, that are the regular program and nonregular program. One of the regular program is international communication (IC), to attend this program we must become a member first. And for the non-regular programs, therere meet the expert, ask an american hour, seminar and presentation, teacher support meeting, camp america and many others. The programs intended for the general public and students in west borneo. Refrigerated cool room and the floor was covered with carpets make the visitors feel comfortable and several others collection are arranged in a special case icon names of states in the U.S examples, New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and the others. In addition, in each particular wall mounted corner lot of pictures or perhaps photograph of scenery in the U.S, white house, and so make the atmosphere like in U.S.
