Hi everybody!

We are Juan from Brazil, Jessika from Japan and Gina from France. Juan is 22, Jessika is
25 and Gina is 23 years old. Brazil is located in South America and it is the largest country
there. Its official language is Portuguese (no Spanish as we used to believe). Japon is
probably one of the safest countries in the world. Crime rates are very low and the
hospitality of the japanese is legendary. In few destinations in the world you can experience
thet feeling, although of course common sense should prevail at all times. Jessika says it’s
what she likes the most about her country. France also has something very interesting and
it is freedom: of expression, of thought, of worship, of way of being. The French are very
free and open -minded people. All fundamental human rights freedoms are guaranteed.

Let us talk about the experience of being pen pals. We have different times zones, so we
have planned a schedule once a week to have video calls through hangouts, and we have
prepared different topics to talk about (adoption, advice, aging, aliens, etc). In addition, we
have a WhatsApp group and every night we love to tell our pals about our day, and send
audios and pictures about interesting things we found during the day. Every week, one
member of the group sends the activities we should do to improve our English skills: a
book to read, a song to memorize, a tongue twister to record and send to the group. You
cannot imagine how much our English has improved. Now, we can understand movies and
songs in English, and we speak more fluently in English.
When we knew about the challenge suggested by the "pen pals in funny letters" website, we
started to read about Canada and we really enjoyed its culture. You must know many things
before traveling to this interesting country. First, you must not call them “Americans”
because they are so proud of their country and they are Canadian. When you use public
transportation, you shouldstand on the left or right of the doors and wait to see if anyone is
departing before getting on it. Also, you must try the maple syrup because the maple tree
represents Canada in many ways. If we win this challenge, we are going to visit the Niagara
Falls. They have an assortment of entertaining options for all ages (camping, golfing,
shopping, cruises, museums, theatre and live music). We are going to visit all the amazing
landmarks in Toronto as the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of
Ontario and the Bata Shoe museum, and eat in one of its best restaurants called "Richmond
Station". We want to win this challenge to know more about the Canadian culture and to
improve our English skills.
Best regards,
Patricia, Angela and Ximena.
