Technical Change Notice

TCN4195
Nomenclature: Subject:
Compatibility:
Redundant module pairs MUST be upgraded at the same time. Redundancy will not operate correctly with mismatched firmware. This Firmware Revision REQUIRES INNIS01 firmware revision E.1 or later. For support of new NIS status reporting capabilities INNIS01 firmware revision E.4 or later is required.

INNPM01 INNPM01 Firmware Revision E.0

Enhancements:
The INNPM01 now supports the "Configured Logic Interface Function" (CLIF). The INNPM01 now supports Controlway packetization of exception reports and GMI messages. This allows longer messages to be transferred to and from the MFP modules. The INNPM01 has been modified to allow polling MFP's for exception reports, and reporting exceptions to other nodes, at up to 64 times per second. This feature is NOT fully tested and may cause unreliable operation of the NPM. The INNPM01 module status has been modified to include the status (one bit each) of the two series connected INNIS01 loop relay drive transistors. The module has likewise been modified to include the status (one bit each) of the two INNIS01 loop channel receivers which may be disabled if a loopback test fails on a single channel. Note that INNIS01 support of these new status bits is expected in INNIS01 firmware revision E.4

Problems Resolved:
Revisions C.0 through D.3 of the INNPM01 had a redundancy problem under heavy load conditions that allowed the backup module to attempt to go online when the primary module was operation normally. This led to the backup module redlighting with LED's 1, 4, 5, and 6 illuminated (duplicate node address). All previous revisions of the INNPM01 had the problem that a bridge node could be erroneously reported as being off-line. This problem did not prevent the normal transfer of data. All previous revisions of the INNPM01 had the problem that a lockup condition could occur in which the INNPM01 could be online, but unable to send or receive loop messages. This problem was associated with processing large GMI messages such as XY plots.
