2 SCENARIO 1: Main Bus-1 out for Maintenance, Outage for OG-1 (No Bus Coupler between Main Bus-1 & Transfer Bus) Prior to taking outage on Main Bus-1, the conditions of the various switches and CBs are as follows: S1 CB-1 S2 S3 S7 S8 CB-3 S9 Close Close Close Open Open Close Close Close

In order to transfer the load on OG-1, on to the Transfer Bus, the following steps needed to performed sequentially: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) CB-1 to be opened (this causes an outage on OG-1) CB-3 to be opened S1, S2, S8 and S9 to be opened (Main Bus-1 completely isolated now) S-7 to be closed S13, S14 to be closed BC-2 to be closed (and Lo & Behold!! Supply to OG-1 restored) BC-2 Acts as line breaker for OG-1.
3 SCENARIO 2: Main Bus-1 out for Maintenance, No Outage for OG-1 (Bus Coupler between Main Bus-1 & Transfer Bus is present) Prior to taking outage on Main Bus-1, the conditions of the various switches and CBs are as follows: S1 CB-1 S2 S3 S7 S8 CB-3 S9 S15 BC-1 S16 Close Close Close Open Open Close Close Close Open Open Open

In order to transfer the load on OG-1, on to the Transfer Bus, the following steps needed to performed sequentially: 1) Close S15, S16 2) Close BC-1 3) 4) 5) 6)
(The preceding 2 steps help equalize the voltage across S7, so that no arching takes place across S7 when it is closed)
Close S7 Close S13,S14 Close BC-2 ( Sources1&2 are now paralled) Open BC-1,CB-3, CB-1 ( OG-1 is now getting supply fully from Main Bus-2, and Lo And behold!! OG-1 is achieved On-Load Changeover ) 7) Open S15,S16, S8,S9, S2, S1 ( Main Bus-1 is fully isolated now)
