Matisse: Life and Painting

-Henri Matisse was a French Post-impressionist painter. He was famous for his colorful paintings and his amazing use of color. In later life when he began to lose his sight, he started to do large collages out of painted paper. He lived a long life from 1869-1954. He was one of the most important artists of his generation, changing the way people viewed artistic expression and the nature of art. -The cut out was not an renunciation of painting and sculpture: he called it painting with scisors. Matisse said,
