The Events of a Learning Experience


PURPOSE
To gain students interest, focus their attention, make connections to their prior knowledge, and draw students into the learning experience. The launch is generally short. For students to explore, use 21 century skills (creativity & innovation, critical thinking & problem-solving, communication & collaboration), make connections, and construct new ideas. During this event students are learning together.

PRESENT

For the students to present the ideas they constructed (their relative discoveries) while exploring. For the teacher to integrate student ideas and student language into actively presented new content.

APPLY

For students to apply, practice, or extend their learning. This is an opportunity for students to reveal their level of understanding and for the teacher to observe and/or collect evidence of learning. This event can be self-directed or teacher directed. During this event students can work independently or together.
