ASSESS

1) Explain the essential elements of cooperative learning.

 Positive Interdependence: You'll know when you've succeeded in structuring positive
interdependence when students perceive that they "sink or swim together." This can be
achieved through mutual goals, division of labor, dividing materials, roles, and by
making part of each student's grade dependent on the performance of the rest of the
group. Group members must believe that each person's efforts benefit not only him- or
herself, but all group members as well.

2) Name and describe three (3) features common to peer interactive.

 Roleplay - Role playing proper practices will supplement your explanations, giving
students clear examples and reference points about what you expect from them.Let’s say
your class is about to start a series of reading buddy activities. After reading a passage
aloud, act out a scene that focuses on giving and receiving praise and feedback. Then,
explore why your comments were or weren’t effective. You can also pair students to try
this activity themselves.
 Create a Reward System - To keep elementary students focused, openly acknowledge
proper behaviour with rewards. For example, each time a tutor provides proper feedback,
give him or her a blank ticket. You can give tutees tickets every time they successfully
implement feedback. At the end of each week, have students submit their tickets and hold
a draw. Winners will get a small prize.
 Fill knowledge gaps - Although prompts are useful, tutors can still get stuck on
content itself. That’s why you should monitor your class, filling knowledge gaps when
needed. You can do this by acting as a tutor’s tutor.Provide feedback, asking guiding and
probing questions to lead him or her to the answer. This not only addresses knowledge
gaps, but gives tutors a first-hand look at how to act.

3) What are the benefits of using the following strategies in teaching.

3.1 Community of Learners
=> It provides an exciting opportunity for employees to mentor students to enhance student
learning, and share an understanding of their industry, potential pathways and opportunities, and
skills necessary for their field. Partners are able to directly contribute to shaping future leaders.

3.2 Peer Tutoring

=> Peer tutoring allows for higher rates of student response and feedback, which results
in better academic achievement. It also creates more opportunities for students to practice
specific skills, which leads to better retention. The student tutor gains a deeper understanding
of a topic by teaching it to another student.
3.3 Class Discussion
=> Discussion is a strategy that can support teachers in understanding what students
already know and in determining what they still need to learn. In this sense, listening to students'
ideas in discussions can serve as formative assessment that helps teachers make decisions about
instruction.
4) Describe your Synchronus and Asynchronus class in any if your subjects.Determine if
there is anything in the class which will that students are afforded the opportunity to
construct their own learning and has features of the socio constructivist perspective in
learning.

 In our subject which is Facilitating Learner’s Centered Teaching, I see the features of the
socio constructivist perspective in learning and gave us the opportunity ti construct our
own learning because in our Synchrounus class it’s more likely to be a student centered
learning which engage the students capability to the topic and improves knowledge that
develops as a result of social interaction and language use, and is therefore a shared,
rather than an individual, experience. In our Asynchronus, our professor gave us some
questions that needs our opinion about a certain question that are still engaging because
emphasis is placed on the agency and prior knowledge of the learner, and often on
the social and cultural determinants of the learning process.
