This methodology covers the procedure for the installation of Central Battery System in accordance with the applicable standards, local authority regulations contract documents and Part B specifications for electrical works section-2. .

2. Scope
The method statement describes the method to be followed for the installation of Central Battery System approved submittal Nos: SK/CN/06/007/STS-0900/011 and SK/CN/06/007/STS-0900/003.

3. Delivery and Storage


1. Receive the approved material from the supplier, and the QA/QC Engineer will check against the ordered, type, quantity and specification to ensure the material is exactly according to the submittal/sample. 2. Store the Central Battery Cabinet, Cables & devices in the designated storage space according to the instructions of the supplier. 3. The storage area must be free from dust and should be kept in proper manner to avoid any damages and protect from water. 4. Take proper care while moving and handling the above materials by giving instructions to the labours before proceeding. 5. Mark or label damaged or incorrect material and segregate and remove them from the storage area.

4. Inspection of Materials
1. The project QA/QC Engineer will inspect the received material and make sure that the delivered materials are as per the approved material submittal and sample. 2. After inspection by CSCEC project QA/QC, inspection request will be sent to the consultant for further checking and approval.

3. After consultants approval, the material/equipment will be ready for installation.

5. Installation procedure
a) Central Battery Cable (Fire Resistant Cable) 1. Check approved materials to specifications and correct applications. 2. Check the routing of cables. 3. Check the back boxes and clean them from any sand, dust or any material used for protection. 4. Prepare all necessary tools, equipment and materials i.e. pulling wires. 5. Pull cables continuously without cutting or splicing except in Central Battery Panel and devices for termination. 6. When pulling cables, one from the starting point shall feed the cable into the conduit and other to draw it on the other end to help avoid tension on the cable and damage to the cables insulation. 7. Arrange cables inside panel in a neat and tidy manner and secure with nylon cable ties. Central Battery (Fire Resistant) cables are to be correctly segregated from electrical cables. 8. Cable shall be properly terminated in the Cabinet after checking continuity and insulation resistance and after any rectification has been completed. 9. Cables at device points shall be joined according to their polarities in order to have electrical continuity through the length of the cables. b) Central Battery Cabinet/Emergency and Exit Lights 1. Mark & drill the location of Central Battery control panel as per the approved shop drawings. 2. Install the Cabinet at marked point & drilled position as shown on drawings and as recommended by the supplier. 3. Sufficient clearance shall be provided to the cabinet for maintenance in future. 4. Incoming and outgoing cables connection shall be made and marked as per approved drawings. 5. Mark the position of Emergency and Exit lights and install the devices as shown in the approved detailed shop drawings and coordinate it with other services.

6. Termination of all devices will be done as per the manufacturers recommendations 7. After installation and connection of the substation panel with all related equipment, the manufacturer certified Engineer will carry out testing and commissioning after a detailed checking of installation which is attached for reference here-with.

6. Safety
1. Safety precautions to be strictly followed during installation, testing as well as charging of any electrical equipment. 2. All appropriate safety protective gear, i.e. helmet, safety shoes, hand gloves, goggles, etc. should be worn by workmen. 3. Check the electrical connections if you are using any electrically operated machine and make sure that the connections are done properly as per the safety regulations. 4. Wear the safety belt while working on a scaffolding or step ladders at high levels. 5. Work site should be kept clean and tidy and ensure the same after the work is completed. 6. Adequate lighting and ventilation should be provided in work area. 7. Any other safety measure will be provided at site if found necessary by safety Engineer at the time of inspection. 8.
