Abstract

The Panel Painting from the old sermon hall Wat Nai - Klang, BanLaem District, Phetchaburi
Province is an interesting panel painting, since it illustrates the past of 24 Buddhas and Bodhisattva, and
Bodhisattva to be future of 10 Buddhas, that can rarely be found nowadays and does not appear to
depict the period it was drawn.
It was found from the study that there are 34 parts of the Panel Painting; each part can be
divided into 2 sets. The first set includes 24 painting which illustrate Budhisattva former life that
corresponds to the story appearing in buddhavasa scripture collected in The Tripitaka, Chapter Suttanta
Pitaka, Dukkha Nikaya. The second set includes the painting of Bodhisattva that is the future of 10
Buddha that corresponds to the content from Tosabhodhi Sattatateta scriptures. The expression of the
scene and events is narrated according to the stories appearing in the scripture. This painting is
assumed to be created in the era of King Rama 4th ; it has been used on techniques of painting from
paintings from the era of King Rama 3rd that corresponds to the form of architecture of the old sermon
hall.
