Personal Skills And Competence

Computer Skills Final Cut Pro- Experience in video editing Adobe InDesign- Capable of designing and laying out articles ready for print. Audacity- Confident in editing audio material using Audacity. Competent in all Microsoft Office Programs & excellent typing speed. Social Skills Team Player- Participated in sports throughout school. When I have worked on building sites I have to work with others as a team, and look out for my safety as well as other peoples. Quick Learner- I came back from a holiday in Ibiza in 2009 and said to myself that I wanted to DJ out there the following year. Having never DJd before I bought my decks and practiced and practiced. 9 months later I was out there fulfilling my goal. Adaptable, Polite and Personable- I recently went to a Leeds Canoe Club pool session to interview various members for a feature article. I didnt know anyone there and had to introduce myself by the pool and carry out the interviews. I was out of my comfort zone but proved I could adapt and use my personal skills to my advantage. Excellent communication skills- I have always been polite and articulate and love meeting new people. Recently I went to Leeds Mencap to interview one of the workers there. I hadnt met anyone there before but I immediately got talking to members of staff and the children. Team management skills- In a recent module, which entailed producing a magazine in a group, I chose to be the editor. I took charge, made sure people were doing things to schedule and generally made sure the team worked efficiently. Creative- When working at Leeds Rugby Foundation, I came up with the idea of setting up a competition to try and raise the profile of their Easter rugby camps. The competition involved kids drawing their ideal kit or mascot and the winner would get a place in the camp. Everyone at the charity loved the idea.

Reliable and Punctual- Being on time is something that I feel very strongly about. I dont like being kept waiting so nor should anyone else. When I worked at Next I was never late and they could always rely on me. A good listener- I am always interested in what other people have to say and take criticism well.

Interests
Sport: I played sport throughout school and continue to do so now. I played 1st XV rugby at School and also played Cricket. I still play Tennis, Golf (18 handicap) and Five-A-Side football socially to keep fit. Drama: I studied drama throughout school and took it for A-Level. Additionally I acted in my local drama company (Barnes Theatre Company), which was well known for being a very high standard. Music: I DJ and produce music. In 2010 I went to Ibiza and DJd at some of the islands top venues, such as: Ibiza Rocks Hotel, Es Paradis, Kanya, Viva, Itaca and more. Cooking: Cooking has always been a big part of my life and I thoroughly enjoy it. I have been brought up to appreciate good food and I therefore have a good palate and a good knowledge about various cuisines.
