Clean Water, Greener Earth

This project was mainly inspired from the water crisis that is happening to the world which is the lack of portable water or drinking water. It was also inspired from water crisis that was once happened in Malaysia during the 1998, the shortage of land in Malaysia which leads to higher property value and not to mention the foul smell that was emitted by the water treatment plant. Other than that, the increase of carbon dioxide level in the atmosphere also inspire this project to be as eco-friendly as possible. The main problem here is the lack of portable water for everyday life consumption when the world is covered with about 71% of water. This problem occurs because of the increasing demand for clean water and also the increasing human population in the world. It is also caused by the destruction of the worlds natural water reservoirs. Although the present practice is efficient, which used water treatment plant; they are not very eco-friendly. They pollute the air with toxic chemical gases, microorganisms and smell-active substances. Because of these factors, water treatment plant is restricted to the public because of the harmful substance around it. Water treatment plant used a lot of space, therefore further limiting the land, making the property value increase. By using our technique, harmful substances from the waste water will be absorbed by the plants through the process of Rhizofiltration. The water will also be filtered with all-natural filter which is composed of rocks, sand and charcoal. This will reduce the carbon footprints that were left behind and also reduce the cost. Because it is all-natural that space can be used as it is not harmful to us. There are few terms in this project, and one of them is Rhizofiltration. Rhizofiltration is a form of bioremediation that involves filtering water through a mass of roots to remove toxic substances or excess nutrients. Bioremediation is the use of either naturally occurring or deliberately introduced microorganisms or other forms of life to consume and break down environmental pollutants. Carbon footprint is defined as the emissions of greenhouse house gases such as carbon dioxide by a community, place, event, product or person.
