Student comments (What are you pleased with? What do you need to work on?)
I think I did quite well with using punctuation correctly and accurately . I think I still need to work on my
transitions, and use paragraphs better. I tried to put my ideas in separate paragraphs most of the time,
but I could have improved my opinionated piece. I tried to use titles that were attention grabbing, and
original, but it was sort of hard to get both done. I tried to add in evidence of the themes of “of Mice and
Men”, but I could have done this a lot better.
Teacher Comments:
A strong understanding of both the source material and the task are evident throughout your
newspaper Tessa. The choice of topics for your articles, the level of detail and the choice of
images show a depth of thought and high level of effort. Remember to give all items a clear
heading in a newspaper, especially if the piece is an editorial. There are also a few slips in
punctuation and proofreading that were perhaps a result of the level of detail that you
produced. You coped well with the planning and structuring of this task and produced a very
thorough piece of work.
