The Great Finale:

A Thematic Exploration
Using the stickies and the Two-Column Notes work sheet, you will create a paper about the two themes we explored, the corrupting nature of love and money. The stickies will make up your evidence in the paper, where the notes from the work sheet will be your support. You will be given a chance to conference with me so dont panic! When the final draft is handed in, it will be graded with a rubric that I will hand out.

All in all, the final assessment for this unit will be a paper exploring the theme of either love or money throughout The Great Gatsby. It needs to include the following: a concise, brief, objective summary of the book (under

a page and a half). a discussion of the two themes. 5 direct quotes from the book (including page

numbers) . explanation of the quote (how it relates to theme)

a summarizing conclusion that restates the themes.
