2 September 2006 CERTIFICATION FEES AND HALLMARKING CHARGES

1) For grant of BIS licence for Hallmarking of Gold Jewellery / Artefacts according to IS 1417:1999 and/or Hallmarking of Silver Jewellery / Artefacts according to IS 2112:2003, details of fees are as below : a) Application-cum-Processing Fee : Rs.2000/- + Taxes as applicable* b) Certification Fee (As applicable): i) Rs. 25000/- + Taxes as applicable* for a period of 3 years for location in Metropolis (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata & Chennai) ii) Rs. 20000/- + Taxes as applicable* for a period of 3 years for location in District Head Quarters iii) Rs. 10000/- + Taxes as applicable* for a period of 3 years for location in other than Metropolis & District Head quarters c) The fees applicable as at b) i) & ii) can be paid in two installments also within 6 months. In case we choose to pay the fees in installments, the licence shall be valid for only one year initially. The validity shall be extended to three years on payment of second installment within 6 months of issue of licence. d) Those certified for gold jewellery / artefacts interested in hallmarking silver jewellery / artefacts also (and vice versa) in the same premises will not have to pay additional certification fees. Only Application cum Processing fees of Rs.2000/- + Taxes as applicable shall be charged along with the application for second licence. e) For an organization having multi retail outlets under same management, the first licence will be granted on payment of applicable certification fees. For every subsequent licence to chain outlets of the organization under same management, a discount of 25% in certification fee for that location shall be applicable. f) Renewal Application-cum-Processing Fee of Rs.1000/- + Taxes as applicable* 2) Assaying and Hallmarking Charges : Assaying and Hallmarking Charges as charged by the BIS recognized Assaying and Hallmarking Centre. 3) Fees once paid shall not be refundable.
